At The Lalit Mumbai on March 2, 2024, ‘The Wedding School’ (TWS) celebrated its 6th anniversary with a convocation. Teachers, students and alumni came together to cheer for academic success. The event not only honored academic achievements but also highlighted The Wedding School’s remarkable journey of growth and success since its establishment.

Mareesha Parikh (CEO The Wedding School)

At the event, Mareesha Parikh, the CEO of The Wedding School, kicked things off with an inspiring speech, reflecting on achievements and future goals. Her words resonated with everyone. With over 450 students, 100+ entrepreneurs and 350+ sessions, The Wedding School had established itself as a leading education institute in the wedding industry over the past 6 years. This success was evident in the institution’s roster of over 70+ industry faculty members, who brought their expertise to enrich the learning experience for students.

The event continued with speeches from esteemed faculty members including Gaurav Vasani, and Bhavesh Sapariya, who shared words of encouragement with the graduating class. Their insights served as a source of inspiration for students, reinforcing the values of knowledge, integrity and passion instilled by The Wedding School. 

Our special guests from the wedding industry, Aarti Manocha(M to MJ, Umesh Sawant (WOW Events) and Hemal Solanki Bhagwat(Weddings by Mercury) added to the vibrancy of the occasion. offering their perspectives and insights on the evolving landscape of the wedding industry. Mr. Umesh Sawant, from (WOW Events) succinctly summed up a key aspect of success in the industry.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of diploma certificates to the graduating students. As each student walked across the stage, they were applauded for their achievements and celebrated for their potential to make a meaningful impact in the world. The ceremony also honoured exceptional students, including Akshita Mehrotra, Mahima Jain, Srushti Bhosle and Jay Surana who have already made strides in their careers, either by securing positions in prestigious companies or by starting their own successful ventures.

As attendees mingled and networked during a high tea session, students took the chance to connect with alumni, gaining valuable insights and forming new relationships for their future endeavours. This interaction continued seamlessly into the later part of the event, where students lightened the atmosphere with entertaining interviews and reels, expressing their gratitude and humility towards The Wedding School.

Concluding the event, The CEO, Mareesha Parikh announced that the new batch would begin in July 2024. Attendees left feeling proud of their accomplishments and excited for the opportunities ahead. The convocation at The Wedding School wasn’t just a ceremony, it celebrated the potential of education. As the next batch prepared to start their journey, they carried forward the spirit of learning and growth from The Wedding School, ready to shape their own futures.

The Wedding School, a renowned institution dedicated to preparing professionals for the ever-growing wedding industry, recently celebrated its Convocation ceremony of its Batch 8 (2022) at the luxurious Lalit Hotel. The venue was transformed into a stunning event space, adorned with exquisite decor and mesmerizing lighting that set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

The students were excited to now be meeting offline and physically meeting and greeting one another. The faculty was overwhelmed to welcome the students who till date interreacted on screen and were now in front of them. The room was filled with cheers and laughter as the students walked in with their family members and friends.

Our Co-Founder & CEO Mareesha Parikh warmly welcomed the guests and faculty to the event, highlighting the achievements of the graduating students and expressing her gratitude for their hard work, passion for learning and dedication. She also took the opportunity to discuss ways to further enhance the students’ learning experience, demonstrating her commitment to continuous improvement and growth. She further discussed with Dr. Usha Parikh, Director, TWS and Sharon Monsorate, Senior Academic Head on the way forward for students and feedback that they could use that would benefit them on this journey into the World of Weddings!

Three students were chosen at random to share their experiences at The Wedding School. The first, a talented choreographer, spoke about the invaluable skills he has acquired, enabling him to create memorable performances for wedding celebrations. Initially, it was just the choreography aspect handled but now on the whole handling a wedding on his own has given him the confidence to execute it seamlessly though initially he faced a lot of roadblocks and he stumbled on various occasions.

The second student, hailing from Kenya, expressed her appreciation for the school’s global approach and the diverse community they had become a part of. Her initial hesitation and the course was too good to be true now turning into a reality and working with a leading wedding planner in Mumbai executing celebrity events and weddings.

Finally, a student from the decor batch shared her journey of mastering the art of transforming venues into dreamy wedding spaces. Her struggle with handling things on her own on venue and taking decisions. There were challenges but she came through as a winner.

The event also featured a special segment where the tribe students (ex-students), who had faced various challenges during their studies, were called upon to share their inspiring stories. Their determination and resilience served as a powerful source of motivation for the current students. By sharing of experiences from where they began and the ups and downs to where they stand today gave the budding talent hope and confidence to move on.

The convocation came to a close with the much-anticipated certificate distribution, followed by a surprise trophy ceremony, honoring the exceptional achievements of the graduating students. The students went all out in clicking pictures with their batch mates with their certificates and at the photobooth.

We at The Wedding School have a simple objective. We decided to provide our budding wedding planners with a customized, concise, and real-world relevant curriculum. And this curriculum would be taught only by our industry stalwarts who can provide students with real-life insights. In 2020, COVID-19 struck and a strict lockdown was imposed. The whole world went online and so did we. Nothing can stop the zest in learning new things, not even the pandemic. You can now learn wedding planning and management from any corner of the world. We took our very first batch of live online course and had students joining us from all over India and a few students from abroad which made our classrooms more diverse.

We are focused on quality learning and we help individuals get professional training relevant to the industry. We made sure our online sessions had an offline touch by holding live interactive sessions.

During the course, our students worked on incredible assignments and projects which helped them understand the subject more deeply. Learning under the guidance of industry experts is a whole different experience in itself. Our #TWSTribe studied the nuances of the wedding industry and gained knowledge from them. On successful completion of the course, our students received a certification in wedding planning which upskilled them to make their entry into the industry.
